The Society

 

The Great Western Society is  a registered charity with the  objectives:

  • to preserve, restore and operate as a permanent public exhibition and museum, steam and other railway locomotives, rolling stock and equipment with particular reference to the former Great Western Railway, both for historical and educational purposes

  • to make available for public reference the history, equipment and operation of the former Great Western Railway.

 

THE Didcot Railway Centre

 

See our unique collection of Great Western Railway steam engines, coaches, wagons, buildings and small relics; and a recreation of Brunel's broad gauge railway. Join us in our rural setting based around the original 1930s engine shed. No need to book (other than for Thomas days) - Just pay at the entrance.

The entrance to Didcot Railway Centre is through the ticket hall and subway of Didcot Parkway Station.

​

The Railway Centre is open at weekends throughout the year and every day from 3 March - 6 October.
